The Different Types Of Speed Hump

The Different Types Of Speed Hump

Speed humps save lives

Speed humps are designed to control traffic by forcing motorist to slow down, thus protecting pedestrians. They can be installed in both indoor and outdoor areas, where ever there's a need for the slowing of vehicular traffic. As with most traffic products, there are different materials as well as benefits/features for speed humps. Let's take a look at some of the materials and features available.

If you are looking to buy speed humps, you can take a look at our full range online here.

Materials:

Rubber

Rubber is far lighter than concrete or steel, making it a quality choice when it comes to easy (and low cost) supply and installation. This material also has the added benefit of being highly UV light resistant, which increases the longevity of the speed hump. But being rubber, offers the same durability as other materials, whilst also creating reduced noise, which can be used indoors and outdoors. Enforcer rubber speed humps are manufactured from both new and recycled rubber.

Poly (LLDPE)

Poly is short for Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), which is a 100% recycled plastic material. This material is ultra-tough, lightweight and ready for simple installation. The benefit of poly stops is that the material won’t warp, crack, chip, or rot, unlike other materials. Because it is so tough, it can be used for roads/car parks where there are heavy duty trucks and other large vehicles. Enforcer Group designs poly speed humps with a unique diamond shape for anti-slip.

Some of the poly stops we stock include Heavy Duty Poly Speed Hump and the Poly Plastic Compliance.

Steel

Steel speed humps are the ultimate set and forget traffic equipment item. They are extremely durable and tough, rated for up to 100 tonne B Double Trucks. The high visibility design is ideally suited for installation on concrete or Asphalt surfaces. The product also includes independent modules, which makes for easy removal if required. The only short coming of using steel speed humps is the likeliness of greater noise when compared to their rubber and poly counterparts. We stock Heavy Duty Steel Speed Humps

Features and benefits:

Durability

All traffic safety products are designed with durability in mind. That's why each purchase includes a warranty period, because we manufacture products built tough for Australian conditions.

Modular design

There are a range of speed hump sizes we stock, including 250mm, 500mm, or 1000mm in length based on your choice of material. This makes it easy for you to achieve the lengths you need and the end caps help you finish off the edges perfectly.

Manufactured from environment-friendly materials

Our products are designed with environment friendliness in mind. They are made of either recyclable rubbers and plastic, such as our heavy duty rubber speed humps.

Built-in prismatic reflectors

Safety is always the number one priority. Speed humps with built-in prismatic reflectors are far easier to see at night, improving their effectiveness in controlling traffic even with low lighting.

Low noise

Speed humps made of rubber and plastic (poly), are designed for low noise, which makes them useful in residential areas as well as near schools and hospitals where high noise levels can be disturbing. Using steel is great for added durability, but not ideal if you need to reduce noise in the area.

Lightweight

By making our speed humps as light as possible, it makes for easy installation by a single person. This reduces the cost of installation services, which we are happy to assist you with anywhere in Australia.
