Bollards can be a great way to designate that an area is not to be used by cars or service vehicles. They can also be a method of protecting both people and assets. You may have recently found yourself thinking ‘just when are bollards required?’. The answer to this question is dependent upon your business needs, the amount of traffic you find yourself dealing with, and any unwanted parking issues you’ve been encountering. In this article, we give a few answers to the question: when are bollards required? We also take a look at a few of the different types of bollard that Enforcer Group stocks.
Bollard Uses
There are many different reasons why someone may be looking at getting bollards installed at your commercial or industrial site. Some of these reasons include:
- Additional protection of assets
Installing a bollard can be a way to provide added peace of mind when it comes to protecting staff members, buildings, and assets. Having bollards in place can help to stop vehicles and machinery from entering areas that could be dangerous or harmful.
- Traffic control
Bollards can be used to control traffic. This control is multi-faceted, and includes blocking vehicles from parking in areas they are not wanted, separating and guiding traffic and providing warnings for vehicles and pedestrians. Removable bollards can be used for situations where the traffic requirements change, and types such as our flexible bollard are lightweight, meaning they can be easily moved by just one person.
Types of Bollards we Stock
At Enforcer Group, we stock a range of different bollard types. Each bollard we stock comes with a 2-year warranty. Below, we explain a little bit about a few of these different types and their benefits.
This type of bollard is installed within the ground. We have a large range of in-ground bollards available to suit a variety of needs and budgets. Whether you’re after a 90mm removable, in-ground bollard, or a more permanent 140mm model, Enforcer Group can assist you to find the right type for your needs.
These are bollards that are mounted to the ground’s surface, rather than installed within the ground. We have a wide range of surface-mounted bollards available, from the flexible, polyurethane model, to the removable 90mm surface mount, and the 140mm x 900mm stainless steel.
The flexible bollard is great for those who want a “softer” bollard. Our flexible bollard is made from durable polyurethane, which means it won’t leave damage on a vehicle that happens to hit it (it simple “bounces back). This model comes in a high-visibility colour with reflective tape, and is lightweight, making it easy for one person to install and relocate. It is an affordable option for those who require a bollard that shows a warning for cars, trucks, and forklifts.
Removable bollards are ideal for those who have changing traffic requirements. Maybe sometimes you will need to take the bollard away to allow a service vehicle to get through, or restrictions are only present during certain times. The removable bollard allows choice and flexibility. We have both in-ground and surface-mounted removable bollards available, along with the flexible bollard for those who want a lightweight alternative.
Our parking bollards are designed to be adjustable, and can be positioned in either an upright or flat-lying position. These models are ideal for carparks that have varying parking restrictions that change depending on the time or day. They can also be used to easily designate a reserved parking space until the person who it belongs to arrives. At this point, they can simply be adjusted to lie flat, allowing the designated car to park. We stock two different varieties of parking bollard, the 90mm, and the 60mm.
Materials of our Bollards
Our bollards can be made using different materials. We have those that are stainless steel, powder-coated, galvanised, or made from polyurethane. The type of bollard you choose depends on your needs along with your own personal aesthetic ideas for the space you wish to have the product installed.
