There are many different features and materials available in wheel stops, but not all are created equal. Many people think of concrete when they think about wheel stops, but this actually isn’t the best material to use. Materials like plastic, rubber, and poly are much more durable and lightweight.
Stops protect both vehicles and property from damage while vehicles are being parked. They are an essential part of car park equipment and can be used anywhere that cars will be parked. They should be tough, durable, and effective at stopping vehicle wheels. The right materials will ensure they have a long life and will continue to provide proper protection.
As we mentioned, some stops are better than others. Let’s take a closer look at the materials that make the best stops and the different features available.

Materials:
Recycled Plastic
Recycled plastic is a durable and environmentally friendly material for making stops. Making them with recycled plastic also means that the stop is one-piece moulded, which improves durability and stops them from warping. Plastic is also incredibly lightweight, making them easy to install and far easier to work with than concrete or steel stops.
Some of the recycled plastic stops we stock include “The Enforcer”, and grey and black options.
Rubber
Rubber is also lighter than concrete or steel, making it much easier to maneuver and install. It also has the benefit of being highly UV light resistant, which increases the longevity of the stop. Rubber offers the same durability as other stop materials, and can be used indoors and outdoors.

Poly (LLDPE)
Poly is short for Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), which is a 100% recycled plastic material. This material is ultra-tough, lightweight and one-piece moulded. All of this combines to make a durable and reliable stop and one that can be installed by a single person. The benefit of poly stops is that the material won’t warp, crack, chip, or rot, unlike materials like concrete. You can also get them in a variety of colours, ensuring that they are highly visible and can indicate different types of parking spaces.
Some of the poly stops we stock include grey stops, black stops, safety yellow, and blue disabled parking stops.
Features:
Car wheel stops
Car stops are the most common wheel stops and can be found in nearly every parking area. They help to denote parking spaces, making it easier for drivers to park safely and accurately.
Stops for cars are generally 1650mm in length and 100mm in height. This ensures that they meet Australian standards and comply with the AS/NZS 2890.1:2004 regulation.
They can be found in places like schools, hospitals, airports, factories, warehouses, and all indoor and outdoor car parks.
Truck wheel stops
Truck wheel stops are designed specifically to stop larger and heavier truck tyres, and are generally made higher and tougher. They can withstand the impact of truck tyres and heavy use in industrial and commercial areas, and they are suited to use for truck parking in any situation, including petrol stations, airports, factories, warehouses, rest stops, and truck stop parking bays.
The dimensions are generally 150mm in height to accommodate larger tires, and 1250mm in length, so that two can be installed next to each other to form a 2.5m long truck stop.
Wheel Chocks
Wheel chocks are singular stoppers for wheels and can be used in a range of environments. They are useful in industrial settings, as they allow vehicles and machinery to be safely stopped. Then the chocks can easily be removed when you need to move the vehicle. They come in a range of sizes to suit both cars and larger vehicles like trucks.
They can be made in a variety of materials, but rubber is ideal as it is durable, strong, and lightweight.
We have a general size for most vehicles and large chocks for trucks and heavy vehicles.
Rumble Strips
Rumble strips are a perfect solution for a speed moderator or lane divider on roadways, bicycle lanes, driveways, and car parks. They are lower than wheel stops and work to slow down or control road users. They are ideal for use in places like schools, hospitals, retirement villages, multi-story car parks, and caravan parks.
Our rumble strips are environmentally friendly, being manufactured from new and recycled rubber. They are incredibly easy to install and relocate.
